GESE 6 Travel Lesson – Reading, writing and speaking
In this download, you can find a reading, writing and speaking lesson about the topic of TRAVEL to help your GESE 6 students prepare for the travel subject area and the GESE 6 exam. The lesson involves reading, writing and speaking about student travel.
How to use the GESE 6 Travel Lesson
The lesson starts with a brief discussion about travel, places the students have visited and would like to visit, and paying for holidays. This discussion also introduces the concept of student travel and students going on holiday.
The next part of the class is a multi-text reading activity about student travels. The reading is an ISE I style reading activity – the students match sentences to the texts, they find true statements and they have to complete the summary notes with a few words from the text. Don’t worry if your students are not going to do one of Trinity’s ISE exams – the reading and writing activities are still good practice for the students and they develop the sort of reading and writing skills students will need to use in real-life. They will also help the students to consolidate the language they need for the GESE 6 exam.
After completing the reading, the reading into writing question is introduced and then the students have to do some paraphrasing and summarising activities. This will help them with the writing task.
Finally, the students complete the reading into writing task which is an article about students’ travels.
